- Chat with locals about the hiking trail - any tips etc
- Let someone know where we are heading to and when
- We make sure we have enough sun/day light for the whole trip & some buffer time, in case we had taken longer breaks than expected etc
- One of our mobiles are always fully charged - just in case we need to call for help :p
- Always pack food, water & a hot beverage - if it's cold seasons, we make sure we are well-insulated and even pack an extra layer in our backpacks. I have noticed that our friends bring things to help light a fire too. Do balance out so that the bag is not too heavy,..
Brufjell is right at the top, a great viewing spot but it can get really windy up there. Sandviga is where the pebble beach is; we thought it is a nice picnic spot as it's less windy and scenic too. The time it took for us to get up to Brufjell (take some pics) & head to Sandviga for a picnic was about 45-50mins. However, this was done with help - we had locals with us and they set the pace, which was probably much faster than our usual pace :p
The markings on the trail is often obvious - paint on rocks, trees or on posts, do keep an eye out for them as they should appear every few steps or so.
For me, it got quite steep, closer to the top of Brufjell, you actually get steel chains to help you up, so it IS steep. And for the noobs out there like me, I am sorry to say it only gets steeper during the descent to the potholes/caves.
Anyways, we took a break and enjoyed the views around us - you just have to be here to see the 360 for yourself, no words could describe the views.
Do expect about 30mins or more, depending on if there's someone in front of you at the hand hold-ladder area or you might just want to take your time and be careful at the handhold-ladder area :)
Personal tips: Don't look DOWN, ONE step at a time & do not RUSH.. It's nothing for the experts/wall-climbers/athletes but for noobs like me or someone with a fear of heights, it can be a personal obstacle course. And, when you're coming down, don't think about how you're going to get back up, hehe, you just will.
