Nowadays, with the sun shining gloriously, one is tempted (okay, ME) to think that winter is OVER~~~ Come on Spring! :) But, logical and skeptical me says, no way is the winter strictly only 3-4 months, so let's see if wishful me or skeptical me is right :P
The irony is.. now that the sly, tricky, hard-to-walk-on ice and dirty snow has all disappeared.. I miss skiing..
I FELL every SINGLE time when it comes to any HINT of a slope. When I feel like I'm gaining speed or if I lose control, my first instinct was to SIT. Yea, guffaw away... that was the only way I knew how to stop when my feet are inside the paved way for the skis.
What I miss about skiing is the COLD, fresh air; the WHOLE body workout - I'm talking about working on TRICEPS and the whole back, lower back, hips, thighs plus the balancing, which means working on your core; the feeling when I GET it - the gliding; the focus you need in this sport is very much like running, IMO. There is no real interactivity with others, you just got to keep your rhythm, try out the techniques and enjoy the quiet nature around you :). I'm actually surprised by this, because I'm actually a tennis kinda gal. Though I DO NOT miss the falling. I am so tempted to research how many times can a human being sustain falls on the arse before whatever damage is permanently caused.
So I hope I haven't put anyone off from trying cross-country skiing (not the exciting down-hill you see on TV), :) I'll definitely try it again!
Daydreaming about skiing,
